These terms cover your purchase and use of Rigsmith, an extension for Adobe After Effects. Buying a licence or using the extension means you accept them. Questions about anything here: support@rigsmith.net.
1. What you are buying
You are buying a licence to use Rigsmith, not the software itself. The licence is perpetual for the version line you bought, non-exclusive and non-transferable.

Your licence key activates on the number of devices your plan allows. You can release a device from the panel’s Settings at any time and activate a different one — moving between a laptop and a workstation is expected and supported.
2. What you may not do
- Share, resell, sublicense or publish your licence key.
- Redistribute the extension, in whole or in part.
- Work around the licensing or device limits, or help others do so.
We may revoke a licence used this way. If we do, we will tell you at the email on the licence and explain why.
3. What Rigsmith needs to work
Rigsmith is not standalone. It requires software we do not make and do not control:
- Adobe After Effects 2022 or later — your own licence from Adobe.
- Duik (Angela v17+ or Bassel 2), free from RxLaboratory. Rigsmith builds your rig by driving Duik.
- Optional: your own Claude Code login (Claude Pro or Max, from Anthropic) for Smart Rig. Quick Rig works without it.
Your use of each of those is governed by that company’s own terms. We are independent of all of them. If one of them changes in a way that breaks Rigsmith, we will do our best to adapt, but we cannot promise a fix or a timeline.
4. Updates
Your purchase includes free updates to Rigsmith — there is no renewal and no subscription. That covers Rigsmith itself. It is not a promise that any given future version of After Effects, Duik or a third-party AI provider will remain compatible.
5. Refunds
7-day money-back guarantee. If Rigsmith is not for you, email support@rigsmith.net within 7 days of purchase and we will refund you in full. You do not have to justify it.
A refund revokes the licence: the key stops working and any activated device is released. Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe, normally within a few business days depending on your bank.
If you file a chargeback with your bank instead of asking us, the licence is revoked automatically when the dispute is opened. Emailing us is faster, and we would rather just refund you.
6. No warranty
Rigsmith is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular character will rig to your satisfaction.
Please keep backups. Rigsmith edits your After Effects project — it creates layers, changes parenting, and adds rig structure. That is what it is for. Save your project, and work on a copy when you are trying something new. We cannot recover work that was not saved.
Smart Rig uses an AI vision model to interpret your artwork. Its judgement is not perfect, and its output should be reviewed before you rely on it for finished work. Features described as experimental — currently bending appendages such as tails and tentacles, and the optional rig verification — are not recommended for production work.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to Rigsmith is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost work, lost time, lost profits, or missed deadlines.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
8. Ending the licence
You can stop using Rigsmith at any time. We may end a licence if these terms are seriously breached — see section 2. If we end your licence for any other reason, we will refund you for a licence bought within the previous 12 months.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version. Material changes will not be applied retroactively to a purchase you already made.
